Going off Cymbalta

After being on Cymbalta for 5 weeks, I am now going to wean off of it for a week. I have been on 60mg and actually have felt worse! I was able to get in to see my psychiatrist today and explained that I now have headaches; anxiety to boot (can't stop fidgeting); can't sleep (Ambien isn't working); and am more depressed. She decided to have me reduce the dosage to 30mg for one week, and then stop it altogether. I go back to see her the end of July and we will decide then what to do next. Cymbalta withdrawal.....will I have any effects, if I've been on it for only 5 weeks? I'm ready to throw in the towel and raise the surrender flag. Enough is enough already!!

Re: Going off Cymbalta

It wasn't so bad for me, and I didn't have the 30 to drop down to. I was a little dizzy for a few days, especially when I moved quickly or bent over to pick something up. That's pretty much all I went through. Good luck and let us know what your doctor says.

Re: Going off Cymbalta

I switched from Cymbalta to Prozac without any trouble. I weaned down to 10mg of Cymbalta per day by throwing out some of the stuff inside the capsule before switching to Prozac.

Good Luck!

Re: Going off Cymbalta

Today was my first day dropping down to 30mg and so far, so good! I also did a little research on the med, Cardura.....which I am taking for high BP and Raynaud's. My primary MD recently increased that since the smaller dose wasn't doing much for my Raynaud's; and my BP was high. Come to find out, some of the side effects of Cardura are anxiety; depression; irritability; headaches; WEIGHT GAIN (I wondered why my appetite was out of control this past week!). Go figure. I called my doctor and asked if I could drop the Cardura back down to one pill per day. What a jungle of meds.....I give up!

Re: Going off Cymbalta

Are you still going to wean off cymbalta, or are you planning on staying on it?
