Questions for Spiro Takers (Women and especially Men)

Could everyone please take the time to answer the following questions if you are taking Spiro to try and cure your oily skin / acne.

1. What dosage are you taking per day? (e.g. 25mg, 50mg, 100mg, etc)

2. At what time and what frequency are you taking it? (100mg in 4 seperate 25mg takings, one 100mg a night, etc.)

3. What brand are you taking? (e.g. Spirotone, Aldactone, etc)

4. How long have you been taking it?

5. Have you had positive results from taking it?

6. How long was it before you started seeing results?

7. Did it get worse before it got better.

8. Have you had any side effects.

9. Are you male or female?

Thanks
Craig

Re: Questions for Spiro Takers (Women and especially Men)

1. I take 100mgs per day
2. I take one pill of 100mgs around 11:00am everyday
3. Spiro
4. Today is day 5 for me
5. I can already tell that my face is less oily (I used to wash my face and within a half an hour it would be oily again, really I don't think my face is oily anymore, I don't have the shine or glare.
6. I noticed the oil change yesterday
7. This one is hard be/c I am also taking other things, doxy 100mgs (1 per day) and predinose for 2 weeks which I'm almost done with, so I don't know what is actually helping me. I broke out very bad be/c of my switch in birth conrtol so I switched to something else and I've been taking it for 2 weeks now so that could also be the reason my face is doing better. (my other birth control pill did not agree with me) My face is doing better but is not at all where I wish for it to be so for now I'm just trying to be patient (spelling? lol i'm not a very patient person at all lol I don't even know how to spell it)
8. Headaches, peeing alot (alot more)
9. Female

I will keep posting as a see results

Re: Questions for Spiro Takers (Women and especially Men)

1) I take between 50 - 75 mgs per day. I was prescribed 200 in 100 mg tablets, by the dehydration was killing me at that dosage.

2) I take half a pill, 50mgs, in the morning. And then a quarter around 6pm if I remember. I don't take it any later to try to minimize problems sleeping due to the dehydration.

3) I think I was prescribed Aldactone, but it is filled with a generic.

4) about 2 months.

5) Yes. Skin not oily anymore. very few pimples in remaining problem areas--Back and jawline.

6) In a day or so I think. I was probably too busy suffering from the dehydration headaches to notice.

7) No.

8) Dehydration headaches and inability to sleep due to headaches, thirst and bathroom trips.

9) Female

Re: Questions for Spiro Takers (Women and especially Men)

1. Prescribed 200 mg a day, but I started at 50, then went to 100, now at 150, and will bump up to 200 in a few days.

2. 11AM I take half (so, right now that would be 75 mg), 11 PM I take half

3. Spironolactone

4. July 7, 2006 - 2.5 weeks

5. not sure yet- i think my skin looks healthier, but hard to say

6. ?

7. No

8. When I first started taking it, I took 200 mg in the morning like the doctor said to do. I got really light headed- especially if I got up too quickly. I even blacked out a little bit. After lowering my dose, splitting it into 2 daily doses, and gradually increasing the dose, I have not had these side effects. Also, of course the diruetic effect (increasing urge to urinate, dehydration).

9. female - 26 yo
