Hot Flashes

I'm a 5 year breast cancer survivor and I just finished my 5 years of taking Tamoxifen-yeah! I was thinking (and obviously wrong) that my hot flashes, that were brought on by the drug, would subside. If anything they are worse. Is anyone else going through this and is there any relief? Anxiously awaiting help.

Re: Hot Flashes

Hi Susan, I am a 4yr suvivor myself, I am presently on aromasin. I stopped a few weeks ago(for a short term break) because of some bad side effects, joint and muscle pain. It took a while for my body to adjust without the drug but eventually the sweats have almost disappeared! So my thought is maybe your body just hasn't had enough time yet to get rid of the drug in your body and to readjust. How long has it been since you finished?
Effexor also worked for me, but I was too tired the following day to continue taking it, but everyone is different.. It might just work well for you!
Congrats on your survivorship!
Hang in there...please let me know how you are doing.
