colon cleanse / toxin flush

Hey guys, I'm starting a new thread for the colon cleanse discussion because the last one was getting pretty long.

Today is Day 4 on my 2-month cleanse (its called Colonix, from DrNatura). So far I have not really felt any different. The cleanse consists of:

- anti-parasite pills in the morning
- fiber shake in the morning
- herbal tea before bed

The herbal tea is supposed to give you a "strong urge" to use the bathroom the next morning. So far, I have not had that.

The fiber shake, well, it is probably the most putrid-tasting thing I have ever tried. I almost want to give it up, because I feel I get enough fiber in my diet as it is. The only way I am able to drink it is if I hold my nose the entire time (am considering getting a clothespin to hold my nose to make it easier). Even after I drink it, there is the aftertaste. And every time I burp for the rest of the morning, I continue to taste it.

I've heard lots of good things about this cleanse, so I am still hopeful to see results. I realize I'm only a few days into it... will keep you posted!

In the mean time, would be interested to hear about other people's experiences, either with this cleanse or with another.

Re: colon cleanse / toxin flush

Hi Wandering Soul,
How are you feeling today? When I was in the hospital last oct. for a blockage due to abdominal surgery and codeine pills which attributed to the blockage, I wasn't allowed to have anything solid for 3 days. Only liquids. clear broth, only yellow and green jello, no red, (in case of emergency surgery) no red dye allowed, I understood what it felt to be starved to death.
as the days went by though and I was on the 3rd day, I felt really cleansed. I mean not only physically, but somehow emotionally and spiritually.
I felt enlightened so to speak. I felt more at ease with things, I was slower, no so tense, etc.
my boyfreind said that's why religious groups would fast to achieve this spiritual level.
you have to experience it to understand totally what I'm trying to share here otherwise I sound like some weird gurhu.
are you beginning to feel this way?
I should try this fasting thing again by by fasting with liquids only. it's another alternative to fasting and cleansing the systom if you can't tolerate the drink.
I personally would not even think of ingesting that drink without knowing fully what it consisits of. find out why it has such a terrible taste to it and why it repeats on you. what are the ingredients?
I wish you well and just wanted to let you know i"m keeping up with the posts.
sincerely,
Linda

I'm a big believer in fasting occasionally. There was a book written long ago by Paul Bragg called "The Miracle Of Fasting". In the book, he says that he doesn't see why someone can't live to be 120 years old if they eat, fast and exercise properly. He died at age 96 in a surfing accident.

Re: colon cleanse / toxin flush

I would consider going on these long cleanses only for the parasite problem.

As far as a cleanse goes, I have found that I can start cleansing more quickly with Senna/herbal laxative pills or the Senna herbal teas.
These teas can be made very weak or very strong, depending on your need, and drunk at night.
You will definitely feel the urge the next day. If you don't--you are really blocked and need to continue a regimen of high fiber foods, lots of water and liquids--and your tea.

I believe the tea can be taken pretty regularly but that is a personal thing. some people might not want to do it every night. the reason most people don't persist in the cleanse is because it is inconvenient, requires many trips to bathroom, accidents, and cramping.

But I don't know what the answer is. I would think that any cleansing that is working will be uncomfortable and nasty, --if it is reallly working???

Or am I wrong about this....

I have ordered the expensive stuff that you take two pills in morning and night and increase dose daily until your bowels are loose. this works ok, also.
But you see-- this does not address the parasite problem!!

I would like more info on the parasites and do you need to be home for long stretches of time for this stuff to get cleanse out????
I cannot stay home indefinitely!

Re: colon cleanse / toxin flush

Hey everyone! I am now on Day 8 of my cleanse... I still don't feel different... but, it's a 60-day deal, so I guess it's not supposed to be dramatically quick that you see results.

The ingredients of the fiber shake are as follows: psyllium husks, flax seed, fennel seed, licorice root, aloe vera, grapefruit pectin, papaya fruit, slippery elm bark, marshmallow root, rhubarb root, alfalfa, guar gum, peppermint leaf, uva ursi leaf, stevia extract, natural banana flavor (though I don't know why they bother w/ that, b/c the "banana flavor" does not neutralize the grossness! lol)

BUT, I did figure out a way to take the fiber without feeling as though I were going to vomit. I mix it in with plain yogurt, and I don't breathe through my nose at ALL, and eat it that way. Drinking it with water was too gross, because even if I held my nose, the consistency was hard to take. But in the yogurt, it's absolutely fine. As soon as I finish it, I eat something else like a piece of fruit, and drink lots of water, to cleanse my palette, so there will be no aftertaste. And it works like a charm.

As far as going to the bathroom, I still go once or twice a day, which is what I was doing before I started the cleanse.. So I don't feel there has been any difference in that regard.

As far as fasting, this cleanse does not call for any dietary changes, although they do suggest that you try to eat healthfully/ avoid processed foods, etc. (which I do anyway). I am afraid to do an actual fast, because I am underweight as it is (5'5", 108 lbs).

And for water, I thought I was drinking enough. At least 8-10 large glasses per day. But maybe I need more. I take Wellbutrin, which causes dryness (including dry mouth and constipation) so maybe I need to take in extra water to compensate for that?

Anyways, I'd be curious to hear some more experiences people have had with cleansing.... and I'll keep you all posted on mine!
