my daugheter is 30 years old and is profoundly retarded, and is on tegritol 800mg phenobaritol 60 mg and zoneagram (new drug from japan that is not working. she is always in a hyper state and i beleive it is from drug reactions taken for her seizures which are minimal and never show on her eeg. the sad part is she gets so hyper she trips off into a sleepless state for 3 day and 3 nights and the very drugs she is taken for her seizures keep her up even more and make her so bad that she his in a hyteria situation. if you try to take her off the drugs she goes into the same situation. it is like taken pretzone for inflamation but most people become hyper from it . strangley enough talking about this it does the oposite to my daughter. all sedatives make her hyper all drugs seem to make her stay in a hyper state if they have sedative affect.she has been on every drug even adivan does not put her to sleep iv that is inter venus maybe 1 hr. then hyperness follows. fighting this situation playing constantly with the drugs per dr. of course.
her body goes into dehyration while up and we have to put her on iv because i beleive the initial administration of the drug has hyper side effects, keeping her hyper and not putting her to sleep. yet the problem is tring to get her off, she keeps getting worse. A katch 22 per say, after the 30 years of care, I dont think I have the strenght. Please, i beg anyone out their to help me, ull be mi miracle !
