Hi Ed,
I too was just diagnosed with diabetes and several family members alos have it. Talk to your doctor, he should be able to get in touch with one of the manufacturers who can get one for you free, unfortunately the test strips are not too cheap. I don't know if you have insurance coverage or not. Mine pays for my machine and testing strips. I also don't know your age but if you have medicare they will also pay. I hoope this helps a little. If you have any more questions please feel free to email me at dolphin2001xx@aol.com and I will see if I can think of something else that may help you

Cool

Hello , I have been a Type 1 for 17 yrs. and on a infusion pump for going on 5 yrs now , so if either of you care to talk I have lots of time on my hands to do e mails .

All I can suggest is dont go with one of the older test systems the newer require much less blood , some of the older required so much I had to stab myself twice to get enough to get a proper test .

Are either of you on disability ? I am very soon going to persue this thats how I got here researching others suggestions on diabetes and disability .....

take care
Tim

Angry

I have pancreatic diabetes and tried to get disability because of my chronic pancreatitis. I did not pursue it because I was turned down. It's like a catch 22, you have to work to pay your bills, but yet you can't work alot of the time because you are sick. So far I have lost 4 jobs due to being sick. It really sucks. Get this, my friend was blind from diabetes and she went in and applied, they turned her down and she was BLIND!!! She had to end up getting a lawyer in order to get it and she also ended up having a pancreas and kidney transplant, but yet, she wasn't sick or blind enough for them!!!
