Post SSI Question

I'm New here and im hoping someone can help me if possible,
I signed my son up for SSI back in Nov,
I did all the steps signing all the paper work that was about my sons disorder,He has NF(Neurofibromatosis) Plus he has learning disablities, along with adhd
I got a letter the other day in the mail,
Ok it had somethings on there.
what you need to do which is call the person who is handling my case,
then below that it has information about medicade,
It has my sons name has been found diabled,Please give me a call to determine how much we can pay?

Ok so i called she asked my all those question as before when you sign up.
also she asked me to be the payee and where i wanted the checks to be sent,

Now does this mean he gets SSi since he is found to be disabled, and they said to call to determine how much they can pay him,?
thanks Kim

the letter you received is the approval letter..you DO need to call the person who is processing your sons claim..this person will explain to you when and how much money you child will receive each month, and will make sure all the necessary paperwork filled out and signed...because your child is a minor the checks will come TO you FOR him.

I have a question about SSI. I am 65 and I do get Soc Security, but my doc tells me I am disabled so why can't I get SSI also? I did call one person at Soc Sec and he said die to the fact that I was self employed on my last job,,selling Avon,, he didn't think I could get SSI. Does anyone know why?

From what i understand, your disabilty has to be on the list, I would apply for it and if they turn you down, you can alway appeal it,(take it to court)
