Re: always tired

Have you been tested for a sleep disorder? Not getting good quality of sleep at night can make you feel really tired throughout the day. Even if you dont seem to have problems sleeping you still could have a sleep disorder. I suffer from Sleep Apnea and Idiopathic Hypersomnia which is similar to narcolepsy. I was sleeping 15 hours a day and would do more if circumstances permitted. Finally they put me on Provigil and Ritalin and I am doing better. I actually have days that i dont sleep and I can do things. However I still spend most of my days sleeping but am happy to get those couple days a week to get things done. Get it checked out.

Re: always tired

It would help if you told use what you got tested for and what your results were. Like an example would be hypothyroidism can cause your problem, normal tsh .5-4.5

Re: always tired

if your thyroid function tests come back normal then you should ask for a thyroid antibody test, this can cause the symptoms you describe.

have you considered a food intolerance? gluten wheat soya etc?
A food diary is a good idea as you can plot your symptoms with what you have eaten
best wishes

Re: always tired

I agree with the thyroid test, both of them. AND you should have one done one week and then have another test the next week to compare the 2 because the thyroid is a tricky little booger and it can really mess with your whole body system. You may want them to throw in an iron test as well. Maybe your not absorbing iron as you should. Alot of people that have hypothyroid(like me) are anemic too. At least that's what my Endo told me.

If those come back fine, I'd go for the sleep study and then the gluten test. I hope you get to feeling better.
