How can I identify cocaine?

Hello I'm a mother and recently I discovered a white powder substance in his room. I believe this to be Powder Cocaine. I don't want to confront him until I am cetain I have all the facts. Is thei any way I can identify whether or not this is Cocaine or not? I have never used such a substance and do not want to sniff it in tthe case that it is. Can someone please respond soon if they know an answer please.
