Post Daily Acetaminephen - Good or Bad?

I have heard that daily aspirin doses can help reduce heart problems, but what about daily doses of acetaminophen? Is 1.5 grams per day helpful or harmful in any way? As far as the liver is concerned, I hear this is more of a dose-specific danger (4+ grams at one time), but not sure of long term effect of smaller doses. ***I do not take the dose when consuming alcohol, which is about once or twice a week*** Does anyone have any facts on this? Thanks.

daily acetaminophen has no theraputic significance like aspirin, aspirin has blood thinning properties as well as anti-inflamitory properties while Tylenol is for pain relief only. Either taken in excess can be harmful.

I'm learning that ANY OTC pain medication taken in excess can be harmful. Look into "rebound headaches" for more info. Please be careful ... I've experienced severe headaches from overuse.

The recommended daily dosage of Aspirin [acetylsalicylic acid] for its preventative/protective effect is less than 100mg a day; this is the equivalent of one baby aspirin a day. [The adult "regular strength" aspirin is 325mg.]

Tylenol [acetaminophen] is a completely different type of molecule. So far there is no medical rationale for taking this drug on a daily/preventative basis. In fact, it is generally recommended that you NOT take it for more than 10 days because it CAN harm your liver.

Here are links on both drugs:
