Re: Plexion, yasmin, tazorac, what more?!

Hey. I am also 26 and like you have suffered from this for most of my life. I've tried pretty much everything except for accutane, which I am starting to seriously consider. I also just started the plexion cloths, plus tazorac cream. I figure i'll try this as my last shot before committing to accutane. I'm worried about all the side effects, especially considering i already suffer from depression. But then you have to wonder, how much of the depression comes from the acne? I go back and forth on that one.
How has the yasmin been? I was on ortho tri cyclin lo for a while, but it didn't do anything. After i quit, my hair started to fall out alot, which is another reason i'm hesitant to try accutane.
My mom had the same kind of acne, and she said it stopped after she got pregnant. I guess that means it is hormonal, but i thought the BC pills would have worked if that were the case.
Either way, I am just tired. Sick of dealing with this, sick of letting it hold me back from all i could be. Maybe i should just do the accutane? I think i'm getting to that point.
Curious to hear how you are doing. Write back and let me know if you can. Best of luck!

ilissa and daisy,

You should really give spiro a try. Get the book the hormonally vulnerable woman by geoffrey redmond. I have been on spiro for 29 days. I'm counting hehe. It takes about 2 to 4 months to work but I have heard wonderful things about it. I have noticed all ready that there isn't anymore oil on my face! YAY! Spiro is for hormonal acne so daisy it should really work for you! I think I am starting to see a change in my skin now finally! I am even taking doxy and was on prednisone on and off for 2 months. I'm also on yasmin but after this cycle I'm going on othyel tri cyclen (spelling?) just be/c I know my skin was nice on it and i'm on my second pack of yasmin and am scared that maybe it might not be right for me so I don't depending on how my face is by the end of the cycle (3 weeks left) I might just stay with yasmin be/c I don't want to upset anything you know. So we will see. But really check out that book!! It's worth it!

Hey Lisa - I am happy that you are finally seeing some results. Ortho-tri-cyclen was not good for my daughter's skin. It broke her out terribly. Yasmin has been much better and she seems to be making progress. Please keep me informed of your progress.
