using Tylenol + NSAIDS

My dr recently suggested that I use Tylenol + Ibuprofen (alternating between the two) for my OA in my hands (mild to moderate pain, I've been suffering through it for about 10 years now, I'm 36 now). Has anybody else been told to do this? I read about alternating acetaminophen and ibuprofen for a child's fever but not for pain in adults. My dr said it would seem like a lot of pills (it does) but that since I was alternating between the two I would wind up taking less than the recommended amount of each kind of pill while still getting pain relief. If anybody else does this (alternates acetaminophen with an NSAID) please let me know what your experience is. thanks. by the way I had numerous blood tests for Rheumatoid Factor and ANA, sed rate, etc. nothing showed up for RA or any other autoimmune disease thank goodness.

Hi, I also have arthritis in my hands and sometimes it used to hurt so bad. I went to see a Rheumy and she gave me Arthrotec and also recommended
taking a Glucosamine/Chondroitin with MSM and it worked for me. Its a vitamin that helps your joints with flexibility and mobility. It helps me a great deal. I stopped taking the Arthrotec all together now. I used to not be able to bend my fingers because they were stiff and swollen and painful. Now the only problem that I have is my thumb in my left hand hursts once in a while but I can deal with that. You can buy the Glucosamine/Chondroitin anywhere but be sure you buy the good brand. Its kinds sexpensive but it works for me. It might work for you too, you have to give it at least a couple of months to see if it works for you. Take as directed.


Hope this help. I did not want to take tylenol or anthing else like that because I also have acid reflux and its bad for my stomach.
