help

hi, i just joined this because i am in the same situation as a lot of you. i have tried so many antibiotics for acne and nothing seems to work. i have done minocycline, doxycycline, bactrim, and now i am on solodyn. none of these have been working at all and the solodyn just made it much worse. Does anyone know of any other better pills to take for it besides accutane? i dont want to go on it now because i start college in 3 weeks. but if some people can reply that would help. thanks you

Re: help

Have you tried any topicals? The medications you listed sound like they are all antibiotics. My experience taking antibiotics was that they all eventually stopped working because the bacteria builds up a resistance to them.

Maybe you can try a cleanser with benzoyl peroxide (proactiv, carley's clear&smooth, oxy wash, etc) or try a topical cream (differin, retin-A, etc).

Luckily there are many things you can try before going the accutane route...

Good luck!

Re: help

My derm prescribed nicomide tablets for me. Nicomide tables are a supplement with zinc and other stuff in it that supposedly reduces inflammation. I didn't use it consistently enough to know if it works effectively, but I think my pimples didn't appear as red when I was taking them.
