mysterious eye problems

Hello everyone,

My allergy problems are very mysterious, here are my symptoms:

Eye redness
Puffiness and discoloration under eyes
Photosensitivity, especially to computer monitors
Hives on the back of arms
Ear popping and clicking sounds
Soreness in the back of head and neck

The problems started in December 2004 and there has been much improvement since that time, but these symptoms aren't going away. The first diagnosis was an infection, and after some improvement everyone keeps saying it is allergic conjunctivitis. Some of the suspected causes have been dust mites, laundry detergent, food poisoning, caffeine allergies, shampoo, polyester, trees, possible moldy mattress, possible moldy leather chair, particleboard in furniture, lack of sleep and apartment paint - I've kept running tests on these possible causes, but no real solution yet. I even moved to a new apartment and removed most of my furniture.

I've taken mast stabilizers like Optivar, and a number of other things over the months such as TobraDex, Doxycycline, Zylet, Lotemax, lubricant eye drops, Loratidine, Flonase, Elestat, Patanol, Augmentin, Benadryl, and MethylPredniSolone. I've seen different opthalmologists, an ENT, and an allergist. I had a sinus CT scan and it showed nothing wrong. Currently I'm not taking any eyedrops and I'm applying an Estee Lauder product to remove the dark circles (a little success, but not much).

How do I get rid of this, and what type of specialist should I see at this point?? Can this ever go away completely?

Did the allergist tell you you have any allergies?

Re: mysterious eye problems

I had allergy testing done and was allergic to a number of things; the allergist I saw wasn't very impressive in my opinion and said it was a problem with dust mites. Right now I don't have any exposure to dust mites, so I'm baffled why this problem still persists.

Re: mysterious eye problems

Oh Boy sounds just like me. I have been suffering from the same symptoms since August. Taking allergy injections now had the sinus CT scan and have taken most of the same eyedrops, nose sprays and antihistimes you have taken. I HATE the swollen eyes! All I can tell you is you will like me get plenty of run-arounds. I saw 4 Opthlmologist, and Allergist. The only thing that has helped my symptoms is Allegra. I talked to a family friend who is a retired Ear, Nose & Throat do for 35 years. He said the swollen eyes and sinus drainage are symptoms of allergies. Try green tea for de-tox reasons and cut out dairy if you think pollen is the cause. Cows eat pollen we drink milk and it goes straight into out system. It's impossible to get rid of dust mites so allergy injections will help eventually. Hope some of this helps. I too wish I had the answer I am very sick of my baggy eyes!

Re: mysterious eye problems

Jason,

You may like to try a few doses of Apis 30c and see if that helps. Apis 30c is a safe homeopathic preparation and has been used successfully in such conditions. It jus might help
