I say forget the meds. Tell yourself and your mind you can conquer it. When you start to have an attack relax and take deep breaths.Put your fingers over your ears and close your eyes. Try inhaling while counting 1,2,3,4 then exhaling couting down from 4,3,2,1.

Xanax has always worked best for me, but there are lots of medicines out there you can try if Wellbutrin doesnt help you. Don't be afraid to ask your Dr for something new.....

Jamiejo, I just saw your post, so I couldn't reply. What did you doctor say? Did you switch from the wellbutrin?

Re: What Works Best For YOU?

Buspar as a daily maintenance drug has worked wonders over the SSRI's for many reasons. Mostly because there are no side effects for me and it had helped to control the anxiety. After a really bad panic attack in January (brought on by many things), I was on other drugs that helped me get through that sickening time, but I remain on the Buspar and a 1/2 a Klonopin in the am and 1/2 at night (a total of .5 mg). It helps and I feel 85% good. Everyone's chemistry is different, though. I appreciate your question, so maybe it'll help you in conversations with your doctor when you both decide what road to take. It is better to go to each visit educated than to just let the doc tell you what to do. Paxil changed my life, for example; it took away the anxiety, but it took away my reasonability, and I had experienced mania on it so bad. Look up mania...it's fun, but destructive. Very scary once you realize what is happening. After many other SSRI's, I went to Buspar, and I felt almost normal after about a month.

Good luck. You'll find yours, but it can be hell getting there. Let me know if you have any questions!

Lisa
