adult acne

Hi! I am a 31 yr. old mother of 3 and my skin looks worse than it has ever looked in my life! I guess I always thought this was a teen issue. I never had more than an occasional pimple in my life until about a year ago. Now my skin is very oily. Although I dont have alot of breakouts at once, when I do get one it is a monster! It is like the cystic kind. It takes forever to heal and usually leaves a scar. I am very healthy as far as a clean diet goes and I try to keep my face clean and use gentle products. Is there anything else I could be doing to help my condition short of seeing a dermatologist? Thanks!

I think you do need to see a dermatologist. Cystic acne in adults isn't very common. Has there been a change in your diet?

Re: adult acne

I guess I need to give in and go see a derm. I was hoping to clear it up on my own. I am good about eating right. Lots of water , fruits and vegetables. I try to stay away from sugar and processed foods. I am active and think I am at a good weight. I am under a great deal of stress though and I am beginning to think it is taking it's toll on me. Thanks for responding. I will make an appt.

Re: adult acne

Cyst acne is very common in adults. My dad is 66 years old and just had to get a cyst cut out of the side of his face. Both my aunts still get them on there face too and they are in there forthies. I am 23 and mainly get cysts. You are going to need to go to the derm. They can give you a shot right in your cyst and in 24 hours it will be gone or at least down(almost gone).
