Angry Throat Blisters, Severe Pain..HELP!

Hey Everyone,

I am looking for suggestions from anyone. I started getting sick last week, just a severe cold. But Thurs. it took a big turn for the worse. I started getting high fever, SEVERE sore throat, terrible head and ear pain. I cannot hear, sleep, or speak well. I finally called the doctor and he prescribed Levaquin( a strong anti-biotic), as well as a cough syrup of phenergan and codiene. He gave me trouble about the cough med, said it would not be of any benefit because of the "heavy duty" meds I was already on....and that the percocet I take was a "cough suppressant."

While it seems to help some, I am in SO much pain! I have not been this ill in years. I wondered why my throat, neck and chest hurt so badly. Chris looked in my throat, and low and behold.....there are clear blisters all over the back of my throat and tounge. I am just looking for ANYTHING that anyone can suggest to help with this pain. I am by no means a whimp, and this has brought me to tears.

Any ideas would be so appreciated. Thank You.

Your Friend,

Amanda

Re: Throat Blisters, Severe Pain..HELP!

Gargle with 1/2 teaspoon of salt in warm water, use throat lozenges such as Ricola to sooth your throat or lozenges such as Cepacol which numb your throat. They have Benzocaine and Menthol. Look for any OTC medication which has a "caine" at the end of it or has Menthol. The "caine" will numb your throat. Eat throat soothing foods such as popsicles, ice cream and drink cold and iced liquids.

I just went through something similar but not Strep Throat which it sounds like you have. My throat was extremely sore for 8 days and the regimen I did was icy liquids, popsicles, warm liquids such as chicken broth and tea with honey, Ricola, Cepacol.

Hope you feel better soon.
