Re: balanitis

That's fairly common. I think mine is like that too. You probably just didn't notice it before.
The urologist is a surgeon. He may suggest circumcision. That would be total overkill and you should just see how things work out.

Re: balanitis

Funny thing, once you have any problem with your penise or testicles, look like you notice every little line from then on (lol) thinking something is wrong. There are a lot of things we don't notice about that area of our bodies until there is a rash or pimple. My point is, what ever you are seeing, most of the time, it was there all along. When we have time, we should all take time to check ourselves out more, it will help us to be more thankful for our good health.

Re: balanitis

hey guys..thanks for the words and making things sound better.

So I saw my urologist, I explained everything and he checked everything out. ...he said I look fine and things look to be normal.

When I mentioned I still feel some discomfort and minor pains every so often, he said that may be from my paranoid...but even after he told me everything was okay, and I was back to my every day stuff, I would still feel slight pains once in awhile...so I don't....if I keep feeling this discomfort feeling every so often for another week or so, I will have to make another appt with my uro..

I told him about my uneven-ness of the top of my head of the penis, he said that looked okay, and some people have that, and I probably just never noticed it until now since I been paying more attention...

He did recommend using a little lamisil on the head of my penis.....he said take a shower, clean with warm water and some soap (preferably unscented) and then make sure to dry off the head of the penis and then put some lamisil on the tip of the head and it helps any yeast infection that may be lingering around....my uro said sometimes after having balanitis, people sometimes may get yeast infection for a very short time after....

Has anyone ever used Lamisil on their penis before? I am very reluctant to put any ointments or creams on my penis unless I know for sure it's okay and it truly helps.....

has anyone used lamisil?

Re: balanitis

I've never used lamisil but as a cream a net search makes it sound pretty safe. If the doctor prescribes it he is pretty sure it won't cause any harm. The site I found said you should use it for the whole course he perscribes as symptoms cease before the whole infection is killed off. It also said to stop if you got increased redness, itching or stinging at the site of application. Antibiotics often upset the natural balance by killing off the good bacteria as well as the bad ones. So it seems a good plan to use a fungicidal cream to counteract this.
Good luck,
Geoff

Re: balanitis

So as I said earlier, I saw my urologist last thursday and he said that things were looking good..and when i told him I still have still irritated pains, he said he most likely it was me just being a bit paranoid since this never happened before.. (two weeks ago, I went to ER and was told I had balanitis and I took cipro for it...all serious symptoms of red irritated foreskin and minimal blood in urine...went away)

he then said to try to take lamisil...to rub it on the head of the penis twice a day after showering and fully drying the head of the penis.... HOWEVER I am a bit hesitant to putting any type of creams on my head of penis being every thing has a possibility of a bad side effect.

So it has been about 3-4 days since I saw my urologist, and I still have those random few second pains on my penis...it can occur just by slightly moving while sitting or when i am walking....but then there are days I can walk for about 2 hours and not have any pains..... So I called my urologist today and he said, that is okay, because I have a bacterical infection and the cipro may have killed the infection, but on the superficial part (the foreskin and penis), that will take time, cipro will not fix that....he said it can still be a little irritated, and just becareful and avoid things that may irritate my penis....

I told him I do not want to use lamisil being afraid of the possible reactions..he said I don't have to use it, and just wait it out for about 2 weeks and hopefully the irritation from the infection goes away....

Has anyone had these symptoms after taking cipro and getting close to almost better, but still have minor problems afterwards for a short time like myself??
