Sties

I have had about 3-5 sties in my eyes in the past 3 months. Should I seek a regular doctor about this, or an eye doctor?

Thanks

Re: Sties

Try washing your eye with baby shampoo as soon as you see it forming. The sty is a plugged oil gland. This should do the trick. If it does not, try putting a warm, wet cloth on it for a few minutes a few times a day.

I will try that tonight...thanks for the advice.
I am 28/m, and have never had a sty in my life, at least I dont remember. All the sudden they are coming out of nowhere! I had like 3 in July, and 1 in August, and now this one.

Re: Sties

I second the advice already given.

To avoid sties, never put your hands on your face without washing them first. It is usually germs from hands that cause sties.

My husband learned the hard way about rubbing his eyes and/or using a handkerchief (used one) to wipe eyes. Always use a clean tissue to wipe eyes and only clean hands.

Using Johnson & Johnson Baby Shampoo diluted in water to wash eyelids will help keep germs at bay.

Re: Sties

I suffered from recurrent sties as a child, until the doctor gave me a course of antibiotics which completely cured them. They are caused by strep or staph or one of those coccus bugs, I think.
