Unhappy High Blood Pressure

I was feeling a little dizzy and light headed for about the past 6 months. I went to the doctor and he found that my BP was way too high for someone of my age (32). It was 185/95..He put me on Avapro 150mg, but then it didn't bring it down all that much..He boosted me to 300 mg and it seems to have levelled off...Average is now about 138/85..
However, I still feel light headed at times and have these heart flutterings..Light headedness is more occuring right as I jump out of bed in the morning...I also have had constant ringing in my ears for the past 6 months as well...When I was at the doctor he said that it could have been a virus in my inner ear..But then I read that high bP causes ringing in the ears..I have learned to live with it, but it is concerning me...I seem to be worrying about these symptoms and I am one that thinks about my health almost constantly...Could this be anxiety or something else...Please respond.

Re: High Blood Pressure

Your light headedness and ringing in the ears, could be an inner ear problem. I have benign positional vertigo, so I know all about dizziness. You also could be getting out of bed too quickly in the morning. Sit up first, slowly, and then go off the bed. It would be a good idea to see an ENT to rule out any ear problems.

Re: High Blood Pressure

Hi asp,

Are you a programmer?
Welcome to health boards. I tried a couple of ARBs, Cozaar and Atacand, which are in the same drug class as Avapro so they have the same side effects. I had many bad side effects with ARBs like dizziness and light head, also I couldn't breath well and I felt that I'm 40 years older than my age (I'm 24).

I'm not saying that this has to happen to you but you can tell what has changed after you took it.

I worry all the time too and this is a very big problem which causes irregular heart rate for me and sleeping problems. Supplements came handy at this time because Magnesium really relaxes me and help me to sleep in addition to regulating my heart rate and reducing my blood pressure, what a great mineral. . Also Flaxseed, Vitamin C and Zinc help a lot because all of them help reducing the blood pressure. You can start trying Magnesium and see what would happen. Also I advice you to change your medication if the side effects are severe. Do you exercise? are you overweight? also salt plays an important role. Please tell us more
Good luck,
Michael
