Question Diabetes

Hi,
i am new here,and new at being a diabtetic as well. was just wondering if anyone could help me here.i am having problems with high blood sugar.just started taking medication and was wondering how long before it starts to work.

I haven't been on oral medications for years, but my understanding is that they can take up to a month to work. You should see some lowering of blood glucose levels within a week or so, though. If they're not down at all in two weeks, I'd give your doctor a call, as you may need to increase the dosage.

I saw almost immediate effect. It is safest to start slowly and it will build as you go, and you don't want to end up with too much. What medications are you on? Different oral medicatiions serve different functions.

i am on glucotrol.10 milligrams, one tablet a day.my blood sugar is still high when i take it in the mornings.like over 300 or lately its been over 200.

My Gran used to be on Oral meds.....850mg 3 times a day and her levels still were high and kept increasing.

I cant remember a lot about Oral meds but I belive my Gran noticed a change also straight away to her levels.

Because high levels can be dangerous, contact your Doctor and tell them your increasing your dose to 20mgs (2 tablets a day) and see if this helps. But do contact your Doctor first.
