Agony

Please can anyone help?

I went to hairdressers 4 days ago and stupidly let the jumior keep me back in the wash basin for 30 mins massaging and shampooing my hair. When i got up my neck felt a little stiff noting much.

48hrs later i got out of bed and had the most excruitiating pain in my right side of my neck i have ever felt. Paracetomal took the edge of the pain, but during the nextnight (4am!!) i went to A&E or ER the doc examinedme and said it was a muscle type injury gave me diclofenic and sent me home, took the tab they did nothing at all.

2 days later im still in agony even swallowing is agony altho i dont have sore throat it seems to pull on a muscle. Saw another Doc tonight who prescribed me tramadol and paracetomal for the pain he said to take 2 immediately and 2 paracetomal, it hardly touched the pain again. Ive got a neck brace on and am sat here typing this wantingto either cry or be sick with the pain.

its at the top of my neck radiating into the back of my head, it kind of peaks into high pain, then just gnaws away throbbing like a bad toothache. I'm really worried its something more serious altho a bit of a concedence abt the hairdressers. Im having an x ray on it tomorrow, but i want the pain to subside at least enough to give me some respite and get some sleep, im so tired and hurting. Anyone else ver had anything like this??

Re: Agony

Oh, sweetie! I'm so sorry this is happening to you! That's terrible! I think it would be a good idea to get checked by a neurologist since you're also having tooth pain. It usually takes a few weeks to get an appointment for a neurologist so you might want to go to an orthopedist in the meantime.

Feel better!

Re: Agony

I've never had anything that severe, you may have disc problems. If it is muscular, the only thing I can suggest is to try voltaren gel (although voltaren has been having a bit of "bad press" at the moment) and a hot pack. The other thing to do is to relax. What happens when it hurts is that you tense up. The tensing up creates pain. Try breathing slowly and telling yourself that the pain has eased, distract yourself with music, whatever, to take your mind off it. Start at your toes, tense and relax each muscle up from your toes up until you get to your neck. Tell yourself that you are all loose and floppy, everything is free.... If you can relax, it will still hurt, but not the "screaming" hurt.
