White patches

Over the last year i have developed these large spots on my forehead where i have no pixelation. I am still pretty young and really self concious about these. Can anyone help me and suggest what they could be and how i could stop more from appearing?

Re: White patches

Hi goalie,

I have lots of freckle sized dots (some joined) of non pigmentation on my forehead, I have an appointment with a dermatologist but not til December (long waiting list!). There is a bit of a debate as to what it is at my doctor's surgery. From all my research I think mine looks most like pityriasis versicolor or Tinea Versicolor. This is a type of fungal/yeast infection. They often prescribe selsun or nizoral shampoo for it which is anti dandruff shampoo I know sounds odd but its used because its anti-fungal.

The other thing it could be is vitiligo (i think thats what its called).

I am still trying to treat mine and I unfortunately do have a fungal skin condition on my body which looks different more like mild eczema in circular shapes all over which flares up after baths and heat but also effects the pigmentation so I have areas of non pigmentation there too at the mo.

I think you are best going to see your doctor to find out and then can go about treating it.

best wishes
M.B

Re: White patches

yeah the best thing to do is to go to a doctor.I recently been to two different doctors cause i thought i really had vitaligo but both of them said i didn't.The doctor told me its probably fungus and reccomended sunsel blue.He also said it should be fine and setting in with the rest of my skin once winter came around. He mentioned that vitiligo are very whites patches that you can spot across the room. So right now im just happy to hear my what doctor told me and try to help other cause vitaligo is very hard to treat.
