has Ortho Tri Cyclen Cleared anyone?

my doctor just switched me to OTC from Solia (generic for Desogen) The Solia had cleared my skin about 75% which I was very happy with I just wanted to get a topical, but the doc thinks OTC will work better to clear my skin. I was happy with the solia I had a bit of weight gain about 14IBs but it could be due to alot of things, such as moving out of the city where I walked every where to the suburbs where people drive everywhere.Im just so scared to try the OTC because of all the horror stories on this board and I was also wondering if I try the ortho and don't like it can I just switch back and start ordering the desogen at the pharmacy or do I have to get another perscription for it? I also should add that Im taking the generic Tri-Previfem for Otho Tri Cyclen, has anyone had any luck with that??

Re: has Ortho Tri Cyclen Cleared anyone?

Hi. I was on otc when I first started taking bcp's my face was great on it but i switched be/c of mood swings. I never had bad acne before so I never took bcp's for it so I didn't realize that I was going to be in some crap by switching. I get cyst ance I would just get like one big cyst. Anyway so I had to switch to a couple of bcp's and then when I switched to alesse that's when my face went nuts!!! Went to the derm and found out that I have hormonal acne. So I heard alot of good things about yasmin so I switched to that and it didn't work so I just went back to the otc. I am on my second pack of the otc and I can already see a major difference in my skin. Otc is the best for my skin. But everyones skin is different. You should get the book The Hormonally Vunlerable Woman by Goeffrey Redmond. I recommend this book to everyone. It's a great book and it talks about bcp's too. I made a post about some of what is in his book about bcp's.

I am on tri-sprintec, with is a generic form of OTC.... And it works great!! It took a few cycles of it before any noticeable results showed.

Re: has Ortho Tri Cyclen Cleared anyone?

thanks for the replies, I should probably also mention that my Doc also perscribed Duac and Differin if this combination doesn't work the its Accutane. I don't have cycstic acne my acne is not all that bad its just stubborn I have like 3 or 4 pustules on my best day and 10 on my worst though I haven't had a terrible breakout since starting BC just the 3 pustules or so at all times. but I've been on every antibiotic and topical under the sun so accutane is my last resort

I was on OTC a few years ago and it did wonders for my acne, I wasn't a fan of the mood swings though.
