Question about pain med

I have been using Vicodin for about a year, three per day was my limit. They became ineffective. I asked my dr to switch them he said no he didn't want me to be on a narcotic 2. The vicodin felt like I took a advil or something. Now a new doctor gave me percocet 500, I am wondering if I take these for awhile if i can go back to vicodin and they will work again????? Or if they are about the same?

Re: Question about pain med

percocet 500 mg ? I take 15 mg and it almost knocked me over the first time I took it. That's pretty strong stuff. I wouldn't think if you took a stronger pain med then switched to a lesser one would help you down the road..

You sure it's 500mg ?
Good Luck

Re: Question about pain med

I'm surprised your doctors have kept you on a vicodin/percocet so long. You should request a liver test. The problem with both of those pain meds is the high content of TYLENOL which is hard on the liver. Have them test it too.

Re: Question about pain med

Stacey , my percocets have no tylenol in it. I was worried about that to , but my doctor said it's safe , no tylenol..
