I have been having increased lumbar back pain for 2 wks. I had a micro-d in May. Since then I have been on Vicodin, Naprosyn, and now Arthrotec. If I over do it my back starts burning not to mention PAIN!! My surgeon says I need to have fusion surgery because I have barely any disc left due to 3 herniation at L5-S1 and the surgery to remove all the fragments. Anyone have burning sensations in their back? What is it?
Hi Shawley - I also have burning sensations in my legs, especially when I get up in the middle of the night and then get back into bed - that's when the burning starts. Have you asked your doctor about this? I asked my GP, and he said that it must be nerves but didn't say if it means that the nerves are being injured more or whator whether there is anything that can be done about it. I don't have pain with it, but I have had problems with sciatica in the past and have some stenosis and DDD.

mabent , I believe mine is permanent , I had it for 2 years now. My feet and legs will go completly numb , then all heck breaks lose , feel's like someone is crushing them.
If I'm in my wifes car my right foot hurt's , when I'm in my truck my left foot hurts ??? Plus I get spotty burn spots alll over my hip feet and legs when I do different movements , my doctor told me it was permenant , some may go away..?

I am just thankful that there is no pain with the burning - yet. I had sciatica in my left hip and leg and had 3 transforamenal steroid shots, which were successful. However, the doctor told me that my sciatica would definitely return - probably in 3 months but at least by a year. It has now been a year, and I keep expecting it to return any time now, especially since I have these sensations in my legs. It must be nerves being aggravated by the stenosis or something else going on in my back. People don't realize how fortunate they are to have strong backs!
