Weird headache symptoms

Can anyone relate to these specifically odd symptoms of a headache? I have read and read about headaches and their symptoms, but mine seems to vary and I haven't found anything that sounds completely similar. Here goes. They have been daily (all day) for weeks - this time. I had a break in them for about 2 weeks before this one - but they also lasted for weeks - all day. The "pressure" feels like something is pressing down on my head. On the top of my head - then it moves to the sides - then it moves to the back of my head - then it moves to just one side of the top of my head. Today I was feeling a little dizzy. ugh, hate that! The most similar headache type that I've found so far is called the "chronic tension-type" - but it doesn't say that it moves around like this one does. I don't seem to wake up with them, but as soon as I "check myself" out to see if I have one or not, then I usually do. But they seem sooooooooo real - they don't really hurt. They are more just an annoyance and I'm constantly wondering what I'm doing wrong to bring them on. I'm also feeling pressure in my nasal area today which has me thinking that it could be sinus related. Maybe it's both. Maybe it's nothing. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! Also sometimes I think that maybe it's teeth related - any ideas about that one?

I appreciate any feedback from those who have found these specific symptoms an annoyance to them. Thanx much....

Re: Weird headache symptoms

Hi duck

I have had a similar experience to you, in that I have a mild to moderate constant daily headache that appears to move around in my head. The main difference seems to be that mine don't go away. My diagnosis was New Daily Persistent Headache, but I don't entirely fit that description either.

I take it from your comment that your headaches are relatively mild? How long have they been going on for (not this episode, but overall)? Have you seen a doctor about them? When the doctors thought that I had tension headaches, they suggested I have wine, cheese and chocolate - these should improve tension headaches, and make other types of headaches worse. It may also be worth getting a CT scan of your sinuses to see if there's any problems there.

I have found that the biggest things to help me are:
- a grain free diet (there is an article available on the internet called 'General reading for people with immunocereal diseases' which explains the science behind why this helps people with chronic illnesses)
- a herbal tonic from my naturopath
- being distracted by something I'm interested in.

I haven't found any drugs have helped me for an extended period of time without significant side effects.

Hope some of these ideas can help you too.

Re: Weird headache symptoms

It could be a headache that is brought on by anxiety. I am trying to see if I have that now. It's a pressure, as if you are straining to pick up something, or being held upside down. It can get bad enough to make you lightheaded.

These can be caused by anxiety, but that doesn't mean they are just in your head (pun intended). Anxiety reactions can release chemicals that hurt your head. Though they feel nuts, they're not dangerous.

Do you get lightheaded and feel faintness when they are at their worst?

The way you describe "looking for them" make me think perhaps they are anxiety related, since looking for symptoms is a sign of anxiety, or at least internalizing.
