?'s concerning upcoming endoscopy

Hello...

I am scheduled to have an endoscopy on the 7th of Dec. The nurse told me not to take any vitamins or NSAIDS, aspirin, etc., for 1 week before the procedure, but she didn't mention anything about wether or not to take my Prilosec, which I take 2 x daily. Should I stop taking it, and if so, how long before? I am scared to death to NOT take my Prilosec, because the pain from the acid is unbearable.

Also, when they said not to take vitamins for a week, does that include ALL supplements....like my CoQ-10, etc, and what about my protein shakes, for which I drink 1 a day, should I stop those also, as they do have some vitamins in them too??? When I asked her why not to take vitamins, she said because of blood thinning...?

So again, should I STOP taking my Prilosec before my endoscopy, and how long before....and do I need to stop taking ALL of my vitamins for 1 week?

I just had my endoscopy last month... they didn't say anything about stoping medications... but I was told fast, not to eat from 12mn up until my endoscopy. your stomach should be clear so they can see clearly inside. But yu should call your doctor or nurse to ask just to be sure.

They did tell me that too, to fast from 9 PM on. I am scheduled to have it done at 9 AM. What time did you have it done?

Funny they didn't tell you to stop taking any vitamins. I hate to quit taking them for a whole week long, but if I have to, I guess I will.

I'm still curious tho, was anyone else here told not to take their vitamins/supplements?

I wasn't told to not take anything before getting it done.. I did have to fast from the evening before but that was all..btw, the scope test was so easy I don't know why I even worried before getting it done.

Now that makes 2 of you who were not told to stop anything. Nancy, were you taking any PPI's right up until the night before your endoscopy? I am so afraid to not take those. A few times when I forgot a dose, (I take 2 x daily) I had severe pain...oh I can't do that for long!!

Anyone else here know whether you should stop taking PPI's before getting an endoscopy done?? If not, I'll pose this ? on a new post. I think it's slow right now due to the holiday.
