Reflux and breathing

Does anyone experience difficulty breathing as a result of GERD (Acid Reflux)?
I alternate between Aciphex and Protonix (the efficacy of each seems to last about 8 weeks, then I switch to the other). Neither of these drugs, however, stops the shortness of breath caused by acid backflow on predictable basis. The best I can liken this symptom to is Asthma where it's difficult to get a full compliment of air.

Also be interested to learn in anyone's found an herbal or other natural remedy for GERD.

Thanks

Re: Reflux and breathing

I have this from time to time... I haven't found a cure but have found taking magnesium/calcium has helped some.. I am on Nexium twice a day, also.

Re: Reflux and breathing

I often have trouble with breathing due to reflux and bloating. Come and goes. Jogging on a windy daty aggrivates my reflux for some reason, this often results in me having trouble breathing afterwords, some weezing also.

Re: Reflux and breathing

Max,

I experience this symptom when I exert myself, it is as if I cannot take a deep breath.

It is amazing how crippling stomach problems can be to an otherwise healthy body.

I hope you get more responses as I am interested in how others manage this particular problem.

Re: Reflux and breathing

Ish -

Yep, my breathing problems are aggravated by exercise too. As a lifelong exercise buff it's the worst on ironies. I'm currently in contact with a clinic in Europe where they are implanting the new gel prosthesis which, at this time, is not a legal procedure here. Should now more in a couple weeks.
