Question Tegretol...any other users?

Hey everybody!

Well I've been taking my Tegretol since Monday and so far so good! I'm taking 200mg at night before going to bed.

The only side effects I've had so far is extreme drowsiness, a "foggy" feeling in my head when I get up in the morning, and some mental confusion. The horrible headaches I'd been having are totally gone altho there's still a bit of dizziness.

Anybody else take Tegretol? If so, what do you think of it? I'd love any feedback!

Thanks in advance and take care everybody!

Hey, Nic! Congrats on the disappearance on the headaches. I suffered severe migraines for quite some time after seizing before the proper scripts. As for the Tegretol, my personal experience was not so great. My drowsiness never went away and after several months began a different string of meds. But, that was <ME>, hopefully your luck will be much better!

Hi Nicola,
(What a pretty name!) I'm on Carbatrol (generic tegretol.) It agrees with me much better than Dilantin did. I am still foggy, but alot less than with Dilantin. I am not as tired either. I take 600 MGs. a day (200AM, 400PM.) Good luck with it. Kathy

Hello everybody!

Thanks so much for the responses! I'm also hoping for good luck on this med.

I've also noticed this week that I can't eat any breakfast in the morning because of nausea. I'm ready to eat by lunch time and I was warned by my doc that this might happen. *sigh* Guess its nothing major but I sure do miss my Sugar Puffs in the AM. *lol*

Take care everybody!

Nic

P.S. Hey Kathy, thanks for saying that my name was pretty.

Hey, Nic. I did away with eating breakfast all together. Not because of the Tegretol. The combination of all my meds in the morning and food trying to metabolize..uh-uh... It was either, eat and wait 3 hours for meds (yeah, let me enjoy my morning seize) or DRINK my breakfast. I usually wait 'til lunch but, if my stomach is really grouchy I make a pit stop at a Smoothie place. Just try to avoid all those "energy boosting" smoothies...those have that Ephedra stuff that's not good for us. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dizzy.gif (p.s. forgive the icon stuff...if I did it right...i'm figuring it out...) had to have some fun!
