What if you skip a month on the Pill?

I think I might not take the pill in January because honestly, between it and the cold weather, I am getting fat. I feel like taking a break and seeing if I can lose maybe a little poundage I know I put on from Levora. I don't take it to avoid pregnancy and I'm celibate rite now anyway but am just taking it to regulate my periods.

Will your body have trouble adjusting to going back on after a month without? I got past the breakthru bleeding problems I was having and I would hate to go thru that again.

In the long run, it's far worse to keep going off then on again. If you're going to stay on then do it. But if you want to quit, then quit. Your hormones are already truly eff'd up from being on the pill in the first place. If you quit for only a month and then try to go back on again, your hormones are going to tailspin and your body will be totally confused. I wouldn't not reccommend it.

how long have you been on levora? are you sure its making you "fat" or could it be a combo of other things? I definalty agree with braclet about not going off for just a month. It would probably take a long time to fully get back to normal. maybe you should consider switching pills. I didnt think levora was one that caused alot of troubles in that area but you should research your options

I would also stick with it and not stop for a month.. especially if your pill caused breakthrough bleeding.. you don't want that to start up again b/c it might. My doctor told me that usually the pill itself doesn't cause weight gain, but it can make you have more cravings and cause OTHER things that can cause the weight gain. Do you think the pill causes you to bloat?? Because it might just be all water weight. If you drink more water, avoid carbonated beverages, and eat less salty foods, it can help. Also, if you haven't been on the pill for TOO long, the weight problems can level out with time. Sometimes it takes a few months for that to go away.. your hormones will just have to adjust and with time things should get back to normal. Good luck!

Re: What if you skip a month on the Pill?

I plead total cravings. A couple weeks ago the temps were in the single digits and I was soooo hungry.

I guess I won't quit but maybe I'll go down a bit in estrogen to 20 mcg instead of 30, if feasible. I don't think a month without would do a whole lot anyway. But I am better since I started the pill than I was before in so many ways and I have very good, regular periods now. For about a year and a half before I started the pill, I began losing muscle tone. Then I missed my period for 3 mos and my legs, which are already very slim, were like sticks. I went into Value Village one time to see what bargains they might have, looked in the dressing room mirror and my calves were about like my lower arms. They looked concentration-camp skinny. Basically, I was losing estrogen.

So no, I don't wanna go there again!
