beta blockers for stage fright

My dr. gave me a beta blocker for stage fright. I have to do presentations at work and end up blushing and suffering flop sweats. The dosage he prescribed is 12 mg and it doesn't seem to help much. Should I up the dosage or try to get a benzo prescription to help?

Maybe talk to your doctor about upping the dose. Benzos have addictive properties which is why you don't wanna be taking them long term, but something like Diazepam may be good for one off times.

Re: beta blockers for stage fright

thanks...that's what I need. It's situational...only 1 presentation per wk. I'll check with my GP.

Re: beta blockers for stage fright

I'm taking 30mg on the beta blocker and thinking doubling it to 60mg for these once per week situations. My doc wouldn't prescibe any of the benzo's...he wanted to start me on Zoloft, which I refused since I'm not depressed and just have situational anxiety due to these presentations
