Suboxone got me off hydro

Hello,

I was on here a couple years ago, when I was addicted to 10 pills a day of hydrocodone. I was on here talking about trying to get off the, all the wd's exc.
I couldn't take the wd's so I just stopped posting here, and decided I just couldn't do it. Unless I went to a rehab or quit my job, there was no way I could get off those pills. But about 2 months ago, if found a doctor that could perscribe suboxone, I had to go into complete wd's, which I did. Then I put one of the pills under my tongue, it was a 4mg pill. In about 10 minutes all the wd's went away completely, i could not believe it. I got out of bed and went to work. I had more energy on that first day then i had at anytime taking the hydro. He said I could take up to 16mg's so I was even at a low dose. I didn't expect a quick easy fix, but it really was. Of course now I have to get off these, but at least I don't have to worry about finding the medicine. Wanted to tell you all, it saved me.

Re: Suboxone got me off hydro

Hi Corey how long ago did you go on the sub? How long have you been on it? What did you find your daily maint. dose to be? I too had a similar experience as far as being in wd's and then taking the 8mgs under the tounge. Execept for the taste and the constipation it really is a fantastic therapy. I started today had my last hydro last night at 11:00pm and waited till 1:00 today to begin the procedure. I'm really curious to hear your response

Re: Suboxone got me off hydro

Hi TJ, I went on the Sub about a month and a half ago, looks like my daily maintenance is about 8 mg's a day. I think I could do with only 4. It's been a month and a half and I actually have some pills left over, they are in my house and I don't even think about it. That blast of energy you get will last for about a week, and then you have to get used to feeling "normal". But its really been amazing. Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine. I don't even think it tastes that bad. Lots more side effects with the wellbutrin I am taking for depression, wish that worked so well.

Re: Suboxone got me off hydro

oh and TJ, your going to want your doctor or something to give you something to let you sleep. The first few days its almost impossible. But that goes away. But for a few days you may need something. I take remeron at a low dose which works for me whenever I need sleep. PM gives me those, says there are very safe. I don't know if you got addicted from real pain, but now I have to deal with the pain again, the headaches that I had are back. The only thing that works is opiates, but I haven't been good about controlling how often I take them, since i'm always in pain. Let me know if you have any other questions about sub. I've done a lot of research

Re: Suboxone got me off hydro

Hi Corey

How did you find a doctor that prescribed suboxone? I'm getting desperate to overcome my addicition. I withdrew last September and went for close to 9 months (with a few minor slips) and then started using again in May. It was off and on for awhile, but now its pretty much full time (unless I run out). I desperatedly need to overcome this addiction and feel suboxone may be my only way out as well. I'm embarrassed to call. I remember before I quit using in September of 05, I tried calling a doctor I found on line and didn't even receive a return phone call. Let me know how you found your doctor. I don't know why I'm so embarrassed about this, of course, they see this every day, but I know they are restricted to how many patients they can have in the program so I was wondering how long it took you to find a doctor. As I said,I'm getting desperate. thanks
