Are you a pumper?

It used to seem like this board had no pumpers, now it seems to have a lot. I know a few people off the bat that pump, Coravah, Ricks, and SamQKitty. I know there are a few other too. Just wondering who else here pumps. Oh, and I do.

Re: Are you a pumper?

You're right about me Blondy. I love my pump! You know before I started pumping I had that aversion that a lot of folks seem to have. "I don't want to be attached to something all the time".

Funny, but it never bothers me. I find it not really any different than wearing glasses. Except my pump doesn't fog up when I go from cold to warm.

Take care everyone and Happy New Year.

Re: Are you a pumper?

I use humalog. I tried Novo rapid, which is what was recommended for the pump, but it acts more like regular and only peaks in 4 hours. The humalog works much better for me. I only get about 3 hours out of it so I never really have a lot of residual to worry about. If my glucose is high 2 hours after eating, I know that I should bolus right away, rather than wait to see if/when the rest of the insulin kicks in.

I have a Paradigm 515 pump. I upgraded to the 522 and tried the continuous glucose monitor, but I didn't really like it. I didn't find it accurate enough (maybe I got a lemon?), found it cumbersome, and discovered that I was stable enough to do without if I just made sure I tested regularly.

Smile Re: Are you a pumper?

Hi Guys,

I've been using my pump for a little over two years and love it! Mine is a Paradigm 515 (purple ) and I use NovoLog with it.

Cora, that was funny about it being no different than wearing glasses except the pump doesn't fog up . I don't wear glasses, but that made me laugh anyway.

Have a good New Year, everyone.
