Pain in Gallbladder

I have high trig and cholesteral problems. I have not been able to take anything for it without pain somewhere - usually in my legs. I thought Tricor was going to work but I began having a lot of pain in the gallbladder area. After much research I found that Tricor was causing that pain! Tricor can even cause gallbladder stones. Next I tried Crestor. In one week I had the same pains again. If I do not take any of those drugs I do not hurt! I already have a Hida Scan scheduled so I guess I will keep that appointment.
Does anyone else get these pains?

Re: Pain in Gallbladder

If you keep taking medications that cause you pain, you are going to be in serious trouble. Your body is trying to tell you something....LIKE, you can't take cholesterol lowering medications. The problem with them is that the damage they do does not go away when you stop. The next time you try a cholesterol medication, you can have more damage. This damage does not go away.. the damage is cumulative. Which means it builds up. At some point the excess capacity your body has for damage, will not be able to compensate.

Re: Pain in Gallbladder

I do not think I have gallstones but I will find out for sure in a couple of weeks when I have a Hida scan. My mother broke her hip and I was talking to her surgeon while we waited for her to wake up. He stated that the drug companies keep lowering cholesteral levels just to make more money. He thinks under 300 is just fine as long as you are in decent shape.
Now here is something I thought I would never hear - I had a check up with my cardiologist and when I told him about the horrible pain in the gallbladder area when I take statins he said I could have my gallbladder removed and then I could take them without pain. Is it just me or is that just plain screwy?
