Nasal steroids etc

Has anyone else had the problem of having to switch every few years because they no longer work for you? I started on Vancanese, went to beconaise then to Flonase then to Nasonex and now none of those work for me and I am on both astelin and nasacort. Is there any long term consequence of being on these meds? Thanks.

No, I wouldn't worry about any long term side effects. It only goes into your sinuses and that won't do any harm. Just think of all the inhaled steroids we asthmatics do every day of our lives! I sure do miss my Rhinocort inhaler though...the spray just doesn;t cut it.

Re: Nasal steroids etc

Nasal sprays not only go into the sinuses but also into the lungs. There is now a warning out that steroid type meds can cause fungus infections in the lungs.

Re: Nasal steroids etc

Typically you bend over to spray the steroid sprays so that they don't go down into your stomach or lungs. And you can blow after using them. I've not read any alerts about the fungus issue but that doesn't mean anything.
