Pnuemonia?

Hi everyone,

I really need some help. I feel very ill right now and I'm having a lot of symptoms going on. I saw my GP on Tuesday and I was told I have severe Bronchitis and was prescribed Amoxicillin 500mg but my symptoms have gotten worse.

I am very wheezy and breathless, I have chest pressure across the whole from of my torso and all over my back from the top of my back to the bottom. I have a very phlegmy, chesty cough which leaves me breathless and I have the worst stinking headache ever. It feels like a migraine but I've had this headache for 4 and a half days now. I feel very dizzy and weak like I'm lacking in energy and my temp is 100.7. I feel like every raising up my arm is too much work because I'm literally that drained. I have been in bed but the majority of the last 2 days and I can't eat. I've barely eaten in 4 days, all I've had was a bowl of soup 2 days ago and a banana yesterday and I tried to eat a pasta earlier but I only eat two pieces of the pasta.

I'm taking cocodamol for my headache and I have one of these patches across my head which is supposed to lower my temp and help with migraines. I also keep having hot flushes where I'm soaking wet and then freezing cold. I hate feeling like this.

I've had Bronchitis several times before in my teens and Pnuemonia 3 times but I've never felt like this with Bronchitis. From what I can remember all I felt was tired and wheezy with phlegm. Nothing like this.

Does this sound like Pnuemonia? I nearly went to ER last night because I felt so awful but I thought I would give it another 24hours and see what happens. The only improvement I've had is that my sore throat has gone. I've also vomited 3 times in 2 days and some of the vomit contained phlegm as well as the usual vomit.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Pnuemonia?

Sounds to me as if you have the flu....... which if you do it will take an anti-viral meds to get rid of it, antiboitics do not work for that... My cousin has been battling it for 5 weeks now... She started with a sore throat , then fever and chills, then she could hardly talk and now she has bronchitis. Dr is treating her for what he calls walking pnuemonia because she didn't get started on the anti-virals in time... Wishing you the best.... Dee

Re: Pnuemonia?

Hi Dee. Thank you for your reply. I haven't got the Flu, lol. I would rather have the Flu than this because the Flu is a piece of cake compared to the way I feel right now. I hope your Cuz is better soon and I'm on meds for Bacterial Bronchitis. GP gave me Amoxicillin 500mg. This is my 3rd course of Antibiotics this month. I originally had Tonsilitis which went into Largynitis then I got over that and a week later had a very bad UTI and was given Antibiotics for this too. I had the Flu in November, haven't got it now hun. Whatever I have is affecting my breathing and all I can feel is loads of gunk and phlegm and hear cackling and wheezing and pain when I breathe in. And the cough is excruciating because of the stabbing pains I get in my lungs. Thanks again.

Re: Pnuemonia?

I think you should go to the ER. If you have pnuemonia, it's very serious and you need to get proper medication. It sounds like you're really, really sick. Can you get someone to take you to the ER?

Re: Pnuemonia?

Hi Kszan,

Thanks for your reply. My mum can take me to ER but she cant drive so I'll have to get a taxi. She's threatening to force feed me soup at the moment so I'll try to eat and hopefully this gives me some energy. I really hate hospitals and everything to do with them, but luckily I'm only 10 minutes away from ER. If there is no improvement by morning then I'll go ER and see whats going on. Thanks again.
