Needing a decongestant

Talked to my pharmasist. I have a blocked ear from sinus I think. He would not recommend a decongestant because I have high blood pressure.

What do you take if you need a decongestant? Apparently they raise blood pressure...........

Re: Needing a decongestant

I take Flonase, which is a prescription steroid nose spray.

Re: Needing a decongestant

I currently have sinus congestion and HBP. My pharmacist recommended Claritan. It has worked for my situation and dried up the yuck.

Re: Needing a decongestant

If I neeed a decongestant for short term use, I take one and keep an eye on my BP and adjust meds if necessary. I will use cheap, generic pseudoephidrine.
For long term allergies, a more stable solution would have to be found.

With a blocked ear I would DEFINITELY take the decongestant because a blocked ear can quickly become a much more dangerous situation than slightly raised BP.

(Take some steamy showers; they hasten the opening of a middle ear.)
