Sign of kidney failure?

I had a severe nosebleed today and had to go to the er to have it chemically cauterized. I've never had anything like that before as it bled heavily for 50 minutes. When I got home I researched on the net and found that severe kidney failure could result in nosebleeds. Has anyone experienced this? I have kidney failure from diabetes and anemia for which I take aranesp. Please help.
Oh and I also take a high dose of diovan, which was increased from 160 ro 320.
Only take 160 mg of aspirin a night. Since 2005 with no proble,s like this.

Re: Sign of kidney failure?

I don't know for sure but I would suspect that it was a combination of anemia and the aspirin. I only take 81mg of it. I hope this is the only time this happens to you.

Good luck.

Re: Sign of kidney failure?

how has your liver been thru out this illness?are the functions okay,or have you even had them checked out recently,at least the clotting factors, espescially considering the amount of aspirin you are taking?what have your BPs been like?kidney failure can cause some really big swings in your BPs.do you get that checked regularly?just some thoughts.what is your creatinine like at this point and your GFR?i do wish you lots of luck with this and hope your kidneys decide to stick around a very long while.Marcia

Re: Sign of kidney failure?

You know I should have my liver function tested again. I think I did in Oct. and all was well. But my kidneys are failing. The nephrologist should be able to tell me something tomorrow about whether the bad npsebleed had anything to do with the kidneys. He has me on Aranesp and my hemocrit is improving. But I will ask him to do the full battery of blood work tomorrow.

Re: Sign of kidney failure?

I wonder why your Dr. says it's ok to take that much aspirin at all. My GFR is 50, and my Neph says NO NSAIDS, or Aspirin, at all. Tylenol only. I guess different Drs., different recommendations.
