Generic Seasonale

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has anything to say about the generic forms of Seasonale. I'm seriously considering switching from Tri Sprintec (generic OTC) to a generic Seasonale, but I've heard that women have had ahorrible experience with it.

What about regular Seasonale?

The main reason I'm switching is because I'm still miserable during my periods. The BC has helped a little, but I still get really crampy and I also get really bad anxiety during that time.

Any comments/stories are welcome! Thanks in advance

Re: Generic Seasonale

I used Seasonale and I liked it, but I ended up with a pulmonary embolism about 6 months into it. So that was the end of me and birth control pills!!

Thumbs up Re: Generic Seasonale

I was thinking of taking the generic brand of Seasonale (brand name is soooooooooo expensive) myself but I decided against it. I figure if it ain't broke, don't fix it

I've been on Seasonale for about 4 years now. I LOVE it, LOVE it LOVE it!!! The only negative thing about it was that I spotted for about 3 months at the start of taking them. But I was prepared because I had read the literature.

After that, it's been smooth sailing!!! Note: Once I forgot to take a pill for 2 days and had a bit of breakthrough spotting but it cleared up after a few days.

Benefits I've Experienced:
- No more PMS
- You forget what cramps feel like (right before I may get a twinge or 2)
- Freedom to have sex, all day, every day ( I'm married
- Very light periods that may last 4 days

I LOVE IT!!

Re: Generic Seasonale

I have tried the generic seasonale and I HATED it. The cost is only like $20 less than name brand. I used the generic for 3 weeks and I stayed sick the entire time.

I love seasonale! I like the fact that I only have a period every 3 months. However here lately I've been having some side effects that I don't like at all. My face and back are breaking out very bad. I'm staying hungry. I can eat and 2 hours later my stomach is growling again. My hormones are all out of wack! At first I thought that I might be pregnant but a pregnancy test proved me wrong, lol.

Is anyone else experience any of these symptoms with seasonale???

Re: Generic Seasonale

Of all the pills I tried, Seasonale was definitely worst for me. I was so depressed and felt so disconnected from reality while I was taking it! It was terrible!! And then when I had my first period (after the first 3-month pack), it was heavier than I've ever had before. I also had terrible cramps and I felt like I was going to go crazy. I absolutely hated it and I would never reccommend it to anyone.

I was on it for the most miserable 6 months of my life. When I switched back to my regular pill that I'd been on longer (microgestin), the depression and disconnected feeling got better.
