Dealing with uneducated "professional"
Greetings Ladies,
I'm 25 yrs old and been suffering from PMDD for as long as I can remember. For the past 10 years or so, i'e been jumbled around in the health care system. The problem is i never get the appropriate help because I never seen to make myself clear and what I say always gets misinterpreted
See, when I consult someone to get help and I explain to them that I have this condition related to my menstrual cycle that causes anxiety, fatigue, excruciating pain, mental confusion, feelings of hopelessness and low self esteem......when i get in the details, people disregard that I mention my period and only focus on the symptoms tht i list, which can be easily mistaken for a mental health problem.
What do you all think? Is PMDD a mental problem or hormonal imbalance.
When I saw hormonal imblaance, and I actually try to tell the person what it truly is, I get that look like "Yeah right! You're crazy and in denial".
I want to know people's opinion, because so far, it hasn't been clear wether it was a mental problem or not, but It seeems like peole, health care professionals, counsellors, psychologist, psychiatrist and psychotherapist and are too quick to call me a "mental health case".
To me, it is not a mental health case, because it's an actual physiological defiency or imbalance, that is measurable and can be tested for.
So what AM I? I don't mean to label myself, but for the sake of getting the proper help, I relalize I have to be firm about how people perceive me.
Thanks to all for reading and your responses!

Re: Dealing with uneducated "professional"
It's not in your head and you need to keep searching until you find someone who can help you. I (and my family) suffered years from my PMS, we didn't have PMDD diagnoses then, we just called it PMS, but after reading up on it PMDD it's exactly what I had. My doctor just called it a very severe case of PMS. Don't stop until you find what you need. For me it was finding a younger female GYN that finally helped me. Get online and research all PMDD you can find. Yes you can be tested for hormone imbalance and should be. Be informed when you go to your doctor. If one tells you no, move on. You know your own body better than anyone else.

Re: Dealing with uneducated "professional"
Male hormone balance for Testosterone:Estradiol is about 30:1
I am male & have to take testosterone to get it up to the 600s and arimidex to reduce the Estradiol E2 below 30.
Before the treatment I was about Testostereone 180 and Estradiol E2 at 82 for a T:E2 ratio of 2:1. I was in very bad shape mentally & physically.
The female hormone ratio is probably about the reverse of a male. Please let us know more with your ratio of E2:T for females.
What is your E2:T ratio now?
Most doctors had a 2 or 3 hour lecture on hormones in med school so they know very little about hormones. Once in a while you can find one that had hormone problems & educated himself on the subject.

Re: Dealing with uneducated "professional"
Sounds Like JinL knows his stuff and I seek his advice. I have ED, now for 20 plus years. Had a good Doc, he is retirered. I use trimix 3 and was on T injection, once every 10 days.(was first every two weeks and that didn't work well) Now the new Doc is not hot on perscribing T, wants another test, different time of day, to get lower T number, then I guess he would feel more comfortable with percription. I am at 280 now. So do I take saw palmeto or what to get the numer down. Also when I do get the T, what amount works for you and how ofter? I did 1.5 every 10 days
