Question on HPV

Does HPV ever go away completely? I know your immune system can work to fight it off, but once you test positive for it....will it always be with you? Thanks for your comments!

Re: Question on HPV

yes. hpv stays in your system. you can have wart break outs at any time. it can be triggered when you immune system is down. if you are a woman, you may have a break out when you are pregnant. i've had vaginal warts for two years with no sign of them going away... you just never know.

keep seeing your obgyn and if you have any signs of warts, start treatments right away. your doctor will primarily say, "wait for a few months b/c your body will probably get rid of them." i did this month after month until my warts got so bad, there is no treatment. since i have them all over my vaginal walls, there is little my doctors can do. if i had gotten then treated when there were only a few, i wouldn't be like i am now.

in summary -- hpv won't go away. keep seeing your doctor for regular check ups. if you get warts, start treatment ASAP!

Re: Question on HPV

Hey "whatthehell" If your doc says you can't get those warst around your vagina removed you can I just had sugery yesterday, an I has the warts mainly in my anal area as well as on the lips of my vagina, it is a painfull procedure, an there is always a chance they will come bcak but if the doc scars your area enough it won't grow back. I had mine lasered off, it sucks the pain is bad, but I'd rather be scared down there than have embarassing bumps. tell you doc that you want them removed, if you do. I think the pain an scaring is worth it. I feel like more of a woman now.

Re: Question on HPV

Thats not true. It really depends on the person. Yes, HPV can go away within a few years. Your immune system either eradicates it from your body or it can stay in your system but the chances of you passing it to a partner is very low. Once you clear of the warts and you havent had any within a year or so I would say its ok to have sex. It does not stay in your body forever. This is what my doctor told me I have HPV genital warts as well.

Re: Question on HPV

I totally agree with ahes on that. Try surgery to get them removed. I have been using Aldera and its not really working that well on me. I'm thinking about getting the acid treatment. Sound painful yes but I'm pretty sure they "numb" the area.
