Interactions with Levaquin?

Hey all,

My mom recently got admitted to the hospital after having severe reactions to Levquin which was prescribed to her for bronchitis.

She is stiff as a board, has swelling all over her body, is immobile, and has joint pain and headaches.

She is able to take codeine which is helping with the pain but her Rheumatic doctor wants to give her Advil and Naprosyn (Naproxen) to counteract the swelling and joint pain.

I've done research and see that there are indications to inform your doctor if you are prescribed Levaquin and are currently taking ibuprofen or Naproxen.

My question is, does anyone know HOW these drugs interact with Levaquin? I don't want this doctor giving her anything that will aggravate the remnants of Levaquin.

Also, does anyone know any other medications that I should insist NOT be given to her?

She's in a fragile state and I want to make sure she gets better, not worse due to giving her wrong drugs.

Thanks,
Dan

Re: Interactions with Levaquin?

i had a severe reaction to avelox which is in the same family of drugs as levaquin. as a result of that poison im left as a cripple. if at all possible its best to stay away from advil, ibuprofen, steroids. i took advil and prednisone a week after finishing the avelox because of widespread muscle pain. im convinced my tendons tore as a result of taking the steroids and advil. the drug stays in your tissues for months after finishing the drug so everyting your not suppose to take while on it i would stay away from it if possble. especially steroids. taking magnesium may help leech out the remaining traces of the drug from the tissues. other than that the only treatment is time. and to eat healthy andkeep stress levels down. most people recover however it may take several months. do some research you will find lots of helpful information out there. levaquin and other quinolone drugs have destroyed thousands of lives they should be off the market. hope your mother feels better soon. take care

Re: Interactions with Levaquin?

I know this is now a year later, but can you tell me how you're doing and if there is anywhere to get help when experiencing a severe reaction to Avelox? I took that poison five months ago, and I've lost my life. I can't get out of bed because I'm in so much pain from head to toe. I feel sick all the time, and can't eat, so proper nutrition is difficult. At this point I just want to die.
