I just got back from the doctors ... strep. I asked how contagious it was. It is very contagious. It is not airborne, but sneezing, couging, etc. near people can cause the virus to be spread. Sharing utensils, cups, etc. can cause it to be passed, touching something that a person with strep has touched, then putting your hand to your mouth unknowingly can also cause it to be passed.

I agree. Very contagious until on antibiotics for 24 hours. I caught strep from my neighbor who stupidly came to my house just after going to the ER! I caught it within a few days.
I also agree with Mom22greatkids, strep throat is very contagious, and very painful. So kissing, sharing drinks and all of that is definatly a bad idea, even still, after the 24hrs on antibiotics, I still try to avoid it for a little longer, just to be on the safe side.
