Neurontin and Lyrica/Nerve pain

I have severe inner ankle and foot pain that has tingling/cramping in the foot which have been tested for and has been ruled out for injury. I had to go to the er because of weeks of being in bed and then the pain got even worse.I couldn't take it anymore. I have an apt now with a neurologist because they think the pain may be nerve pain coming from the back but the one doc had put me on Lyrica which I took once and made me feel out of body/dizzy so I called and stopped. Then when I went to the er they gave me neurontin with increasing dose and said it should have less side effects. Has anyone been on this for nerve pain or general and can share there experience. Also I'm in an air cast when I do leave the bed to protect.I'm so sick of living in bed and in pain as its been so long.I need to get back to functioning.Thank you for any help

Re: Neurontin and Lyrica/Nerve pain

The Lyrica made me feel awful too. Now am on Neurotinin slowly working up to 3 a day. Only problem is that I feel whacked out on this too. The doctor told me to call him when I get up to the 3 pills a day, I don't see that happening. Maybe I should find a new doctor.Meanwhile the feet and right hand are tingling and extremely unconfortable. Good luck

Re: Neurontin and Lyrica/Nerve pain

I was on Neurontin from July 2006 until last month. I was originally on 900 mg. It was increased to 1800mg. I started getting pain in all my joints and swelling. So I was weaned off it. Took a few weeks with such a high dose. You can't just stop it because of the withdrawal. I just started Lyrica last week. One pill a day. The dr. is increasing to two a day now. I don't get that feeling you guys have described. Maybe because of all the other meds I take. I take amphetamines to stay awake for Narcolepsy. I take Skelaxin for muscle pain. I am 7 months post of from double level spinal fusion surgery. Before the surgery I had pain in the leg and foot. An EMG showed mild Neuropathy. They say it could be permanent.

Re: Neurontin and Lyrica/Nerve pain

I've been on neurontonin for 2 years for nerve pain and it has helped alot.

I felt fatigued and spacey the first 2 months but those side effects went away with time. I am definitely glad I continued to take it as it has changed my life for the better.

Re: Neurontin and Lyrica/Nerve pain

I have nerve pain in my left elbow from a previous injury. My dr. prescribed 100 mg of neurontin 3 times per day. I am wondering if anyone knows how long it takes to start working. I am in a lot of pain and can't wait for the results of this medication!

Anyone able to help??

Thank you.
