Nexium vs. Prevacid

Can someone tell me the difference between nexium and prevacid? Are they basically the same drugs for the same reflux problems? I have GERD, and was once diagnosed with Barret's. If nexium can be as effective as prevacid, should I ask for a change? My insurance covers nexium, but not prevacid. Could there be a reason for this?

Re: Nexium vs. Prevacid

I don't know the difference but a study was conducted by the New England Journal of Medicine using 4,200 patients taking both for Acid Reflux and the results showed that 41% taking these drugs continue to experience daily heartburn symptoms. As many as 60% say that they're experiencing these symptoms three or more times a week. Although it wasn't mentioned in the study, it's best to take an all natural approach using a Probiotic that contains at least 10 Billion Microorganism with at least 10 Strains per capsule. The more Strains and Microorganism the better. This I read in another article.
