Pulmonary Function Test -

Hi, Just had a pulmonary function test and there was good news and bad news. Good news is my lung capacity was 99%. Bad news is my small airways were only 55%, once I took ventolin they jumped to 74% almost immediately. Does this mean I hav Asthma? I have not been able to read much about small-airways.

Re: Pulmonary Function Test -

Wow, your lung function test was similar to mine. My lung capacity is right at 90%, but my small airways were 36%! After being on Advair, my small airways went up to 56% and has stayed there. My asthma doctor said this is very common with asthma. The small airways are the most sensitive and affected the most because they are so small! It does bother me that my small airways didn't improve more. Maybe I have some irreversable scarring due to years with asthma, I don't know. But I very rarely have symptoms since being on Advair.
