I'm going to go off of the Armour

My lab tests come back messier every time.
I just can't take this anymore.

My current tests as of 03/23/07:

TSH 0.12 (0.35 - 5.00)
FT3 5.20 (2.30 - 4.20)
FT4 1.10 (0.70 - 1.50)

I am on 3 grains of Armour.

I get HORRIBLE anxiety with tremors. I can't get rid of this. And it doesn't change when I am on 2.5 grains of Armour. I feel much work... plus my FT3 and FT4 are LOW when I am on that dose.

Ugh. Just venting.
I guess it is Synthroid here I come... again. But, I can always add cytomel if I need it. Already talked to my doc about it.

I just wish I would find the "magic" pill to make this all better.

Re: I'm going to go off of the Armour

Just posting to support you, whatever you and your doc decide you should do. The labs look pretty clear to me with free T4 still in range and free T3 far too high, it makes sense the TSH is below range. You clearly are getting too much T3 and need to change that somehow.

Whichever option you decide to choose, I'm pulling for you. Feel well soon.

Re: I'm going to go off of the Armour

Sometimes less of the natural with an added synthetic to bring up the T4 can do wonders.
I take Nature Throid (basically same as Armour with different binders) I also take Unithroid which is a synthetic T3. I have the same problem you do if I am on the natural only, my T3 gets too high and my T4 stays too low.
I also have tried Armour, but for me the Nature Throid works better. I take 100mcg Unithroid and 1/2 grain Nature Throid. Just the little bit of Nature Throid helps me a lot.
So, you may want to try taking the Synthroid and only a small amount of Armour. That way, you are getting the T3 plus the other T's in the Armour but you are getting the T4 your body seems to need.

Tiny.....Just a suggestion..................If it were me, I would decrease my Armour just a little and add a little "T4 only" such as Levoxyl. That way you won't be giving up all the other good things in Armour such as T1,T2,T0. You may have to adjust meds a couple of times to balance the free t's so they are both in the mid to upper 1/3 of range.

Re: I'm going to go off of the Armour

I went off Armour (3 grains) six weeks ago after a year of treatment. I started with 100 Synthroid and 1 grain Armour and did fine. Then at 4 weeks I went to 150 Synthroid and no Armour and feel fine. I have noticed I am sleeping better, which was a real problem for me. Also, I'm feeling less fluctuation with fatigue - on Armour if I couldn't take a dose on time I would run down. Granted, this is only six weeks in, but I was really nervous about the switch and have been looking for any downside and there hasn't been any problem yet. I want to see what my labs look like a month from now - if I'm converting well - and will decide then whether to add in T3. Your labs look a lot like mine on Armour. It seemed like I was always flirting with hyper if I took enough Armour to be without symptoms. Good luck whatever you decide. I really believe both drugs are fine, you just need to find out what works best for you.
