New to the board

Hello to all. I was diagnosed type 1 on Jan 1st. I was admitted to the hospital on new years eve with a blood glucose of 517. Since then I have been put on Lantus and Novolin along with Lisinopril as a protective measure. I have found the diet and exercise modifications fairly easy to deal with. The hardest part for me is being a single parent and being discharged from the Marine Corps after only 11 years because of this. I am wondering if anyone else has dealt with this, or who can help me with dealing with this issue. I didn't expect to get out for another 9 years and am frustrated and nervous about entering the civilian job force without much time to prepare. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks
