Husband still doesn't feel any better

Hi everyone I posted here last week about my huband keep having to go to the bathroom. We went to the doctors and he told us that it was probably not a UTI but prostate inflamation. Anyways he has been on medication for 5 days now and he is not getting any better. He told us that he would feel better in 3 days. If not to go back to the doctor. I was going to make him an appointment to see our doctor on Monday (we went to an after hours clinic before). My doctor usually waves things off as well. So I have to go in with him and demand that he gets a prostate exam done. Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get in to get this test done and how long it will take before we get the results? I am beside myself with worry and I am almost in my third trimester of pregnancy and I know I shouldn't work myself up. Just all the symptoms are the same for a UTI, prostate infection, prostate inflamation, prostate cancer. I just want him to be okay. He is so uncomfortable he just wants to feel better. I just wish there was something I could do. Anyways sorry about my little rant I just had to get this off of my chest. Thank you guys Sherri

Re: Husband still doesn't feel any better

sorry,i don't know alot about the prostate issue but just had some general suggestions for you.anytime you or your hubby feels this strongly that something just isn't 'right' with either of you, push it with the doc.you deserve to have basic care when you feel, not the doc,YOU feel something is wrong or just not right.its your body or hubbys that has the problem, not the docs.

his best bet really would be to get referred to a urologist for this.that is where he would most definitely recieve the appropriate care for his problem.any primary care doc is just that 'primary' care.unless they happen to have a very extensive knowledge of a particular type of problem, you are not going to get much.any doc that would just blow me off, well i just wouldn't see them anymore.i have dropped many different specialists who were supposed to know what the heck they were doing just because they didn't either know enough about what my specific problem was or i just hated their additude.you don't have to stay with any doc YOU don't want to or you just don't feel is good.you have choices.

If this doc said your hubby would be better in three days and he appears even worse, just go back to this guy and tell him what your concerns and fears are and see what he does.if he takes them seriously and refers you to a good urologist as he should, well thats great.if he refuses, move onto a more caring doc who has yours and your hubbys best interest at heart, not his ego.

the thing is,any 'good' family doc knows when something is just too over their heads and will send you off to the appropriate type of specialist who can offer you the best care.thats just good medicine.I have been lucky with my many multiple medical nightmares i have had to deal with,my primary has been just fantastic.he knows my body is now a total mess from severe spinal cord damage, and a kidney/liver disease and has sent me many times to the docs who can give ME the best possible care.i just touch base with my primary when things hit the fan and he takes it from there.this is what any primary doc is just supposed to do for their patients.

just make that appt for your hubby with the doc again and see what he decides to do.just remember, you always have options.i wish you both lots of luck with this and hopefully he can get things figured out and properly treated soon.please let me know how things go.FB

Re: Husband still doesn't feel any better

My husband has prostatitis two years ago. The first round of antibiotics, I think it was Cipro, didn't work completely. He then went back to the doctor for stronger antibiotics that he needed to take for about 4 weeks. I can't remember the name of that medication....They did work.....He did see a urologist a few weeks later just to make sure everything was ok. I Anyways, definitely go back to your doctor to discuss and get your husband checked out. But, no need to panic if the first round of antibiotics doesn't work. I think that's common. Good luck.
